Obviously, every moving company is different, just like every move is different. But how do local moves compare to long-distance moves? Some companies only offer one or the other, but you can also find moving companies that manage both types, like our team at Colt Moving. Let’s run through how we do things here.
Definition of a Local Move
For us, any job that’s within the state of Indiana is considered a local move. That means our in-state pricing is the same—whether your move is within the Indianapolis area, or from Indianapolis to South Bend or Evansville. If you want to learn more about our pricing structure and to start calculating your save-time estimate, just visit this page.
Basically, we have a flat-rate pricing model. And we only bill for the exact amount of time it takes to complete your move from start to finish. It’s important to have realistic expectations for your moving company investment because no one wants to be caught off-guard. That’s why we don’t play games with the final bill and post our entire billing process here on our website. Plus, you can always call one of the scheduling managers to discuss the details for creating a more accurate estimate for your moving day.
Our Process with Long-Distance Moves
Moving to another state is considered long-distance moving. And it does tend to be more complicated. For one thing, the transportation laws and regulations require our own process for out-of-state moves to be different than within the state. But even though our main focus is in-state and local moves, we also offer services for out-of-state moves.
You might want to hire some professional packers to help get everything boxed up and ready-to-go. Or you might want to collaborate with our team and learn how to get a streamlined plan. It’s a good idea to talk with your moving company first to make sure you understand all of the nuances that come with these types of moves. If you’re here in Indianapolis, just give us a call!
