Obviously we don’t want anyone to feel nervous about their moving day—that’s why we invest in quality insurance coverage, great employees, and a solid training program. But accidents happen. And even the best moving companies will have their fair share of minor problems after enough years in the business. Fortunately, we know how to mitigate those risks!

Fundamentals of a Good Moving Day

Every homeowner knows that proper packaging is a crucial part of moving all of your fragile belongings safely. (If you want to review some quick tips, be sure to check out this article.) Even still, a careless moving team will definitely make matters worse.

In our expert opinion, the easiest way for families to keep their furniture safe and protected during a move is to hire a well-vetted moving company. You want professionals carrying those heavy loads, and reading local reviews from your neighbors about how the movers work will help ensure you’re going with the right team.

Our team members know the right ways to secure all of your belongings in the truck and safely move them to wherever they need to go. We’ve got experience on our side. Not day laborers. You can also trust that we, as a company, are going to do everything in our power to avoid any problems. Because we’d be just as upset about damaging your property as you’d be.

Another way we keep our customers protected is by remaining fully-licensed and insured. Then, in case of any accidents or damages during the moving process, we’d have those issues already covered. Our contracts outline all of this in detail. We’re also happy to explain these coverages over the phone if you want to talk with us while scheduling your move.

What to Do When Your Mover Breaks Something

Colt Moving has great company policies to keep all of your boxes and furniture damage-free during your move. But it’s still important that we’re upfront and honest with our clients about those potential “worst case scenarios.” If damage does occur, we have a clear process in place to make sure everyone is communicating and on the same page so we can make things right.

If there is ever any damage during the move, our team knows to contact our clients immediately. We all need to be aware of the issue as soon as possible. If, however, your movers didn’t notice the damage during the day, we ask that our clients contact us and share two or three photos of the problem with our claims department. From there, we’ll be able to work together. We’ll either determine how to repair the damage or figure out an appropriate settlement value.
